The web is a dangerous place, and thats why you are lucky to have me as your guide!
When you visit many websites, even those that sound trustworthy, you are exposing your computer to all
kinds of terrible things. we have heard in the news about the computer virus which will erase all your
files or that your boss at work can watch what you are doing from somewhere else, but there is another,
less famous danger, adware. Adware is software installed on your computer (usually without you knowing)
which keeps track of what websites you visit, and then sends the information to marketing companies.
The programs are disguised as useful; for example if you visit so many sports websites, you will suddenly
be offered discounts that should appeal to a sports fan. However, in reality most of these discounts
are marketing gimmicks designed to get you to buy more stuff, and the smart webzaemon shops without help!
So I have for you a great utility to keep your computer clean and safe after your voyage on the web.
It is called "adaware", and it is really wonderful. Download the latest version
, run it, and your system should be much better off. It is normal to find some 30 or 40 components the first time it is run!
This can be shocking, but don't worry! Afterwards you will rest much better knowing that your computer
is not wasting memory and diskspace keeping track of your websurfing. I suggest running it a couple times
a month, and checking for new versions every couple months.
